Closed Fridays. The town carries heavy history: in August 1990 more than 147 men and boys were killed at prayer in its mosques.

A three-storey museum on A.J.A. Road in Kattankudy, opened in April 2015 and run by the Department of Archaeology, devoted to the Islamic heritage of the east-coast Muslims and the Arab traders who settled here. Old weapons, ceramics, household objects and life-size clay models of community events fill the floors.
