Where Batticaloa meets the sea, across the Kallady bridge from the lagoon side of town.

The open-sea beach on the Kallady peninsula, across the lagoon from Batticaloa town, in a village that lost heavily in the 2004 tsunami. There is no reef here, so the surf runs straight onto the sand and the town's beaches are not treated as swimming beaches.
