A five-minute walk from the fort, with the lagoon on one side and the town's Gandhi Park on the other.

A concrete and granite memorial arch on the lagoon shore beside Gandhi Park, marking the old crossing point between Puliyanthivu island and the mainland. It is held to be where the Rev. William Ault, the first Methodist missionary to Batticaloa, landed in 1814; his statue stands beside it.
