The lower brick terraces are restored, but most of the dome is still a grass-covered hill you can walk all the way around.

An ancient stupa 2 km northwest of Buttala with a base circumference of about 317 meters — one of the largest stupa footprints in Sri Lanka. Tradition links it to the reconciliation of the brother-kings Dutugemunu and Saddhatissa in the 2nd century BCE.
