A long sweep of pale sand beginning a few kilometres north of Trincomalee town, backed by palms and beachside cafes, with the Salli Muthumariamman kovil standing on its shore. Visitor numbers collapsed after the 2004 tsunami and the war, and have climbed again since 2010.
