The biggest dagoba raised after the Anuradhapura era — modelled on Ruwanweli Seya but built two centuries later.

The largest stupa in Polonnaruwa's ancient city, built under King Nissanka Malla in the 12th century and rising about 33 metres. The name means 'gold-pinnacled', and the restored dome dominates the northern monastic quarter.
