A long, uncluttered strand next to Unawatuna, with the island's famous stilt-fishing poles planted just off the sand.

One of the longest beaches in the country, 139 km south of Colombo, bounded by a reef on one side and Koggala Lake on the other. Stilt fishermen perch on poles in chest-deep water a few metres offshore, a practice now mostly staged for tips, and a British-era airstrip and rock-cut swimming pool sit at the eastern end.
