Beginners and shortboarders on the same beach: white water inside, one of the south's more serious reef waves outside.
A 400-metre beach break over sand and broken coral on the western side of Ahangama town, softened by the outer reef and used by first-timers, with surf camps and schools behind the sand. Offshore sits The Rock, a reef A-frame with a fast right and a tapering left that holds up to about 12 feet.
