The only way inside the naval base, with a harbour boat ride sold alongside the museum ticket.

A navy museum on the Ostenburg ridge inside the Trincomalee dockyard, built into Second World War gun casemates above the inner-harbour entrance. Three restored six-inch British guns, magazines 30 feet underground and captured Sea Tiger attack craft are the core of it; visits need prior permission through the navy's dockyard portal and an ID check.
