Widely called the best swimming beach on the Jaffna peninsula — shallow, calm water with none of the south's surf.
A 1.5-kilometre stretch of white sand on the north shore of Karainagar island, about 20 km from Jaffna town, named for the casuarina trees along the shore. The water stays shallow far out from the beach.
