Privacy Policy

Your account. If you create an account, we store the email address you sign in with — or, if you use a third-party sign-in, the basic profile details it shares (your name, email, and picture). You can also set a username. We use this to sign you in and keep your saved trips attached to you.

Saved trips. When you save places to a trip, the places, dates, and order you choose are stored against your account so you can come back to them.

Place suggestions.If you suggest a place, the details you enter — including an optional email — are sent to the editor so the suggestion can be reviewed. Giving an email is optional; if you do, it's used only to reply to you about that suggestion.

Analytics.In production we use an analytics tool to understand how the site is used, so we can improve it. It's off by default and runs only after you opt in. Until then, nothing is recorded.

Technical data.Like most websites, we keep basic technical logs (such as your device's IP address) to keep the site running and secure. We don't use these to build a profile of you.

Islewise uses only the cookies and browser storage it needs to work — to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences — and no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If you opt into analytics, that tool sets its own cookies; if you don't, it doesn't.

We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers. To run the site we rely on a small number of trusted service providers — for hosting, our database, analytics, and sending email — and each handles only the data it needs. We can provide the current list of providers on request. Some of them process data on servers outside Sri Lanka and outside your own country.

You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or send you a copy. You can withdraw your analytics consent at any time. To make any of these requests, email privacy@islewise.app, and we'll respond as soon as we reasonably can.

We keep your account and saved trips until you ask us to delete them or you close your account. Suggestions are kept for as long as they're useful to the editor.

Islewise isn't aimed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

We may update this policy as the site changes. The effective date at the top shows when it was last revised.
