A Long White Beach Few Visit
Mullaitivu Beach — Seafront of Mullaitivu town
Photo coming soon
Surf that runs from mild to treacherous, with repeated drownings reported, so treat it as a walking beach unless the sea is flat.
The seafront of Mullaitivu, a fishing town on the northeast coast squeezed between the 14-km Nanthi Kadal lagoon and the sea. The beach is long, white and largely undeveloped, with a couple of hotels and a simple cafe; the town was hit hard by the 2004 tsunami and was the last ground of the civil war in January 2009.
