One of the Solosmasthana — the sixteen holiest Buddhist pilgrimage sites on the island — and the end-point of the Kataragama temple walk.

A 29-meter white stupa at the northern end of the Kataragama sacred complex, traditionally attributed to a regional king of the early Anuradhapura period. Donor inscriptions found on site date its veneration to at least the 2nd century CE.
