A stop for the sunset over the water on the drive to the coast, with a modern history the village has not forgotten.

A reservoir on the A6 between Habarana and Trincomalee, attributed to King Aggabodhi II in the early 7th century and enlarged by Parakramabahu the Great, with an embankment more than 4 km long. Its dam burst before dawn on 20 April 1986, killing well over a hundred people; it has since been rebuilt for irrigation.
