The 12-meter Avukana Buddha, carved in the same king's reign, stands near the bund — the statue and the water pair into one visit.

A reservoir built by King Dhatusena in 460 CE, with a 6.9 km bund and a twin tank, Balalu Wewa, alongside. The Yodha Ela canal carried its water 87 km north to the tanks of Anuradhapura.
