A long sandy beach at Dikwella, 22 km east of Matara, protected by headlands, reefs and sand bars, which makes it the swimming beach while Hiriketiya next door takes the surfers. Fishermen at the Pehambiya end still use oru outrigger canoes because they cope with the shifting sand bars.
