A working beach rather than a resort, between Bentota and Hikkaduwa, with the Mask Museum a short walk away.

A long local beach at Ambalangoda, 87 km south of Colombo, where fishermen launch small boats and haul nets at dawn in a town better known for its carved demon masks. A natural rock pool behind the old rest house was described in 1907 as a place to bathe in the open sea in safety.
