The Cave of Bats

Wavulpane Limestone Cave — 10 km from Embilipitiya

Home to a bat colony numbered in the hundreds of thousands, audible well before the entrance.

A limestone cave at Wavulpane, in the hills between Rakwana and Embilipitiya — the name means cave of bats. A stream runs through the main passage and drops over a small waterfall inside the rock, and guided walking tours take about an hour.
