A Forest Above the City

“More than 80 bird species have been recorded in a forest that starts a ten-minute walk from Kandy's town centre.

A 104-hectare forest reserve on the hill directly behind the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy, protected since 1856. Walking trails loop past a royal pond, cave hermitages, and stands of giant lianas.
