Green turtles feed on the seagrass inside the reef, so snorkellers see them without needing a boat.
A beach about 2 km from Matara city centre where an offshore reef and a breakwater of rocks close off a shallow lagoon, so the water stays usable even when the open sea is rough. Lifeguards are usually on duty, with changing rooms and food stalls; it fills up at weekends.
