The Rock Across From the Lion
Pidurangala Rock — 20 km from Dambulla
It offers the clearest view of Sigiriya from the outside — the view you can't get while standing on Sigiriya itself.
A 200-metre granite outcrop just north of Sigiriya, with a Buddhist monastery at its base dating to the reign of King Kashyapa in the 5th century CE. The summit scramble takes about 30–45 minutes and ends with a direct, unobstructed view across to Sigiriya.
