A wide strand running north from Negombo town, about 9 km from the international airport, with budget guesthouses clustered at Lewis Place to the south and larger hotels along Porutota Road to the north. Oruva outrigger canoes and paruva catamarans from the town's old fishing fleet still land on the sand.
