The other end of the Viharamahadevi legend from Magul Maha Viharaya, with statues exposed on the dunes a few minutes from Arugam Bay.

A temple on the sand beside Pottuvil's beach, held to have been built over 2,000 years ago by King Kavan Tissa of Ruhuna. Stone Buddhas and two royal figures stand in the open among old stupas and a chapter house; scholars favour this shore over Kirinda as where Princess Viharamahadevi came ashore.
