Bucket bathing beside the road between Mahiyangana and Ampara, with the hottest well around 56 degrees.

Seven thermal springs about 3 km north of Maha Oya on the A5, each at a different temperature from 37 to 55 degrees, with only two cool enough to bathe in; the ticket seller lends buckets. They sit on the boundary between the island's Highland and Vijayan rock complexes and keep flowing through dry spells.
