One of the few places in Sri Lanka where you can see elephants swimming between islands in the reservoir.

A national park around the Senanayake Samudraya reservoir near Ampara, established in 1954. Safaris here run by boat as much as by jeep, tracking elephants that swim between the reservoir's islands.
