Finds from this shelter helped push the dated record of modern humans in Sri Lanka past 30,000 years.
A prehistoric rock shelter under an overhanging cliff near Kuruwita, reached by a short forest trail from Sudagala with a steep stairway near the start. Excavations recovered human remains and stone tools dated to more than 30,000 years ago.
